I am interested in building some polyhedrons and was hoping someone might be able to point me towards a book or website that will help with designing, figuring angles, general assembly, etc. Also if you are aware of anybody specializing in this sort of work I'd love to look through a gallery for shape and design inspiration.

I've linked to some images roughly showing what I'm interested in, both enclosed as well as open designs.

Old time woodworking books approached the problem as "hopper" joints or you might find info in roofing

Did a small one 40 years ago it's on my mantle. Ebony veneer.

There is a book published by Whole Earth Catalog in the 70"s called Domebook 2 that has the angles and chord lengths for lots of dome variations. FREE online:

Bradley, thank you for the link, it looks quite interesting and precisely what I was looking for.

I was surprised when I saw a guy make one on the tv show Flea market flip. Sorry, no help here! Would be a fun difficult project though - make sure your tools are tuned up!

You are welcome. I made some models many years ago from the tables in the book. I made some with drinking straws strung together - all that was necessary was getting the lengths right with the straws - no angle cutting. The elliptical domes are especially interesting.
