For those who haven't seen this yet. Makes fussing over flatness and 10,000ths seem silly.

If I had all those tools, I guess I could do it too, but I don't.

That is a very cool saw build, and a really well made video. German engineering is alive and well.

Did anyone catch what the sheet material he used for the top was? It looked like metal of some type.

Looks like 1/4 inch plate steel.

Nice build but it also requires the motor/arbor set. I had a home made table saw at one point but it was not nearly as nice as this one.

I especially liked his "chop saw/circular saw conversion".

Wow, well I guess if youve got the time and youre into that sort of building. Personally Id rather just buy pre-built tools and build other things. These types of "building tools" videos are getting surprisingly popular on youtube.

Ben, I didn't get the impression that he built it to save money. He made the comment that this type of table saw was not easily available in Europe.

? I didnt mention anything about it being built for the purposes of saving money... I just mentioned the time spent doing it.

Yeah, he did mention he spent a year building it.
It's still a pretty cool table saw if his trunnion design stays true.
