Has anyone seen Dewalts new line of Cordless tools 60/120 volt max, and the Battery works on their 20 volt Max line too. http://www.dewalt.com/ Of course the other brand Milwaukee FUEL :) say's they still exceed the Dewalt specs. Looks like the cordless revolution is growing. Dewalt has a table saw though. Dan

Dewalt new one is 3 groups of 5 Li cells so can output 18v from the parallel wiring tap and 54v from the series wiring tap. Of course they are still lying and calling it 20v and 60v.
Milwaukee's new 9ah battery is the same except it only has the parallel wiring. And they should get credit for not lying about the output voltage.
Since they are both capable of supplying enough current to drain the huge battery in a few minutes, you have to wonder how much practicality there is for most uses. Brushless motors should be capable of outputting the same power from 18v or 54v, which is why the 36v tools days are numbered. But of course, 60/54 volts sounds better, right?

Having a tool that can run on mains or a battery sounds like a great idea for some tools, particularly if it can charge the battery at the same time. A BIG worklight with that feature would be wonderful.

How much is enough? Next, we'll be draggin' a car sized battery everywhere.
My 18v Makita is all I need.

Of course they are still lying and calling it 20v and 60v.

They do have some fine print on their website:

Maximum initial battery voltage (measured without a workload) is 4, 20, 60 and 120 volts. Nominal voltage is 3.6, 18, 54 and 108. 120V MAX is based on using 2 DEWALT 60V MAX* lithium-ion batteries combined.

There was a very early Fein Cordless system that actually used a car battery. A little more portable than a gas generator and your corded tool plugged in.

If you're going to make an issue of it, at least be consistent.

Am I they only one who, (short of a cordless drill and impact), hates cordless tools?

I love my cordless tools. I am a Milwaukee fan though and I have all M12 Fuel and M18 Fuel tools. In fact I just received the M12 Fuel Hackzall today, from HD's sale.

Well those numbers are a marketing thing. One Li Ion cell is 3.6V so an 18V has 5 cells, 20V is not evenly divisible by 3.6V.

The thing I don't like about Dewalt is the color.I just hate yellow tools the 735 planer is a great machine but why does it have to be yellow.
Stupid designers.
My cordless drill is a Panasonic.
