Can someone send me dimensions for the CU300? I've looked at several Minimax brochures/docs but I think there was a discrepancy. I'm finalizing my plans for some in-slab dust collection and power and need to get it right.

All blade dimensions should be from the middle of the blade, right-left referenced from the operators normal position at the infeed side.

Blade to mortiser table (without handle)
blade to left side of slider
blade to left side of squaring frame fence (with an un-extended fence)
blade to infeed side of table
blade to outfeed side of table

Also, please confirm that the electrical is on infeed side near the morticing corner.

Thanks,

Mark

Mark, dust collection always points toward the saw outfeed side of the machine. The exception being the small port on the sawblade guard (which folks ordinarily run as a drop from the ceiling)...

Electrical is under the table saw infeeed area. It is the black plastic box in the bottom, right, of this photo...

There is also Sketchup file of an 8.5' CU300 in the "Files" section of the Minimax Owners Group on Yahoo.com. Hope this helps,

Erik

The two key measurements I'd like confirmed by someone on a physical machine are from the blade center to dust port side of chassis, and the blade center to the electrical connection. This will determine my penetrations into the slab (with ~ a foot of slack added on each end).

The blade center is my reference point, to get enough indeed, outside, and right and left of the blade clearances. I found a couple CU300 sketchup models but they are slightly different.

I can get you those for you in August, from the booth machine at IWF, if someone does not respond sooner. You probably know this already but those are very particular measurements, while most folks are more concerned with "will it fit in my garage".

Thanks Erik, hopefully an owner will chime in. I can go from the drawings and pictures I've looked at, but confirmation is always nice. I'm hoping to pour the slab in August, assuming all the permitting and easement release crapola happens in the next few weeks. FWIW, I decided to start the build before I return to the States. I was going to break ground in November and be a PITA watching every little detail, but decided to take a risk and let the builder do the framing before I repatriate.

Mark, you probabably know this already and I understand the whole planning thing but in my experience, this is all like horseshoes and hand grenades, if you get my meaning. For example, Italy could change a design on the machine between now and then (which has happened) and the first time I hear about it is when I see one for myself or when a customer notifies me (embarrassing, but that's usually how it works). A good example of this is the support tube that now exists under the slider of the 2012+ CU300 Classic 8.5' but never existed under the slider of the CU300 Smart. if a customer had asked me if they could, say, store a cart with the mortiser under that area of the slider, which some folks have done, I would have answered yes. I would have given the them the wrong information.

Now, I don't think that the location of the dust chutes and of the electrical box is going to change between now and then but on the other hand, I can't guarantee it and that is multiplied by the fact that you are probably 6-12 months away from any acquisition. If it were me, I would ballpark it as best you can and leave yourself wiggle room. You can always run a little extra hose or a little more cable but the if the port is cemented in place and it ends up being so close that you can't make a 90-degree bend to get to it, that would be a huge issue. Again, you probably realize all this but if the experience of past customers is any indication, leave room for leeway. For your own sanity. Hope this helps,

Erik
