in my ash lumber ?

339606

..and what is the likelihood they're still active in there ?

These boards were cut last September and have been air drying ever since.

Looks like the work of a Wood Boring Beetle.

This might do the trick but it's kinda pricey:

Also look on Ebay for Boracare, I just saw a gallon for sale for $62.99 with free shipping.

Yonak,

Does not look good. Looks like two different beetles, the smaller holes look to be powderpost beetle. It is best to use heat to kill them.

We have issues here with Emerald Ash Borer bugs killing all of our Ash trees. Its really become an epidemic. According to the State of Minnesota its unlawful to transport trees / firewood that could possibly be infected with these little monsters

Thank you. I recognize the powderpost beetle holes. What about the other channels ? Do you recognize them ? Could those bugs still be there ?

The Old House Borer takes two years to mature and exit the wood. If it was green wood, air dried, it could be the exit hole of this bug.

Could those bugs still be there ?

Yes. Eggs or larvae from the bugs that made the exit holes could still be in the lumber. It needs to be sterilized in a kiln.

Thank you, Cody. I was under the impression only powderpost beetles could survive as long without a source of water.

The large holes look to be flathead borers. Could also be long horned beetle.

Thank you, Danny. This gives me a starting point to do some research.
