Coring and roughing session today

4 of our club members went to a friends place who cleared some more land around his house. He had logs of ash, cherry, walnut and soft maple. Easy pickings and his tractor helped load much of it. I went straight for the walnut. This morning I spent about 4 hours roughing out and coring (MacNaughton) five 15" half rounds. I was able to get three bowls from most with no funnels. Two contractor bags of chips and curls. Wood cut like butter!:D

Thanks guys. I feel being in an active club has many advantages. Harvesting wood is a great group outing a means to exchange ideas and stories. Our north west Indiana members sure know where to find good wood!
