New Lawn tractor : Gas tank level ????

New MTD lawn tractor with that 420CC Briggs & Stratton engine. Engine sounds different than the 20 HP 2 cylinder Kohler I had before , but it runs good and should be a little onthe fuel consumption. The thing is, when I filled up the gas tank, the fuel went straight to the top of the cap but on the side of the gas tank, the gas was not to the top.

Is that some sort of EPA safety thing??????????

Howdy Clarence, Pictures might make a world of difference in this situation. There may be a screen in the fill tube that is covered or other obstruction.

Air space for expansion. If you filled the tank full on a cool morning and didn't run the mower you'd have a mess by mid-afternoon when the fuel warmed up and expanded.
