These bowls were donated (in advance of being turned) for a fund-raising auction for St. Jude's hospital at a traditional archery website. About $24,000 was raised and donated for St. Jude's this year!!!

I donated three bowls. One was an 8" Cedar bowl that has already shipped to NY - no pics. The other two winners requested Pecan, so this is what I came up with.

I took some quick pics outside and they aren't great, but show the shape and color of the bowls.

This first bowl is 7-7/8" wide, 3-1/8" tall, and the thickness is 3/8". There is quite a shine on this bowl that you can't really see in the pics. It is sanded thru 600 grit, has about 3 coats of TO/BLO/MS, and then buffed on two compounds.

The second bowl also has quite a shine on it that doesn't show w/ my poor photography skills. It's 8-3/4" wide, 2-1/2" tall, 5/16" thick. Same finish technique as on the other bowl. These pieces came from two different trees, as you might can tell from the color variation.

Mark those are beautiful, lovely work on the lowls and the photography. If I thought I could take pictures like that I would no doubt invest in a digital camera. Seems I feel move confident with my old SLR Canon AE1, those digital cameras blow my mind with all their bells and whistles. I have never turned Pecan the only time we see Pecan around here is Pecan Nuts usually at Christmas time which come to think of it is just three months away. Where has the year gone? Again Mark nice stuff, great work in both avenues.

Mark,
You were fortunate to catch those beautiful creatures in their natural habitat. Did you use any kind of bait, or just call them in? Really nice work!!
