The regulator on my 26 gallon Husky vertical air compressor is acting up. I need to replace it and I would like to replace the filter too.

Any recommendations?

Thanks.

Parker has always been good to me (in industrial setting).

Edit: Randy's recommendation, tho' not bad, may be over-kill. You're paying for a FR that can discharge the entire tank in ~4 seconds. If you don't need the capacity, 1/4" might save you a few pennies?

This is what I use. Milton brand. It's made in the U.S. It's not cheap, but buy it once and be done with it.

SMC for 1/4" with filter and auto drain, off ebay. Not cheapest, but will outlast probably ten of the original junk that comes on those.

I went with Parker for my CNC router. I'm sure there are better and I know there's worse. The Parker has been trouble free.

Bruce, does that have a 1/8" port for a gauge on it?

A new one will fix the problem. I have had success in disassembling and cleaning/repairing when the regulator on one of my smaller compressors gave up.

I ordered the Parker that Bruce recommended.

It installed in about 15 minutes even when dealing with Teflon tape.

It's amazing how much quicker the compressor is able to get up to 140 psi now with a new regulator!

Thanks again for the recommendations guys!

LOL! Back when I was a youngster mold maker I had to Teflon-tape up dozens of 1/4" NPT brass plugs for the mold base's various cooling lines. Man, I hated that part of the job!

Glad the Parker worked for you.

Ken, I added these to my compressors. Best thing going, I can read them from across the shop.

Over the last 40 years, between hydraulics, pneumatics and cryogenics, I have used my share of Teflon tape! Go with the flow....don't fight it! (Install it with the tape mimicking the threads.)

Larry, thanks for posting that. The one on my big compressor is fogged up (upstream of the dryer), and needed to be replaced anyway.

I found one for the regulator too:

edited to add: sorry. copy and paste item number didn't work. I just did a search on the forbidden auction site for "large air gauge", and found one with a back nipple. There is also an even larger 4/5" one with bottom nipple, and larger numbers.
