I'm picking up my new Northfield Bandsaw. Maybe should have asked this earlier but has anyone have experience with this unit? Or Northfield machines in general?

If it's built like their table saws it will be bomb proof. I have never heard anything but high praise for the quality and sturdiness of the equipment. My table saw is 40 years or so old and came from a commercial application. The blade tilt and height adjustments are still buttery smooth. I'm looking for a big Northfield band saw my self.

I've got one of their big planers from the 60's. Still being made today and is about the same. They are freak'n tanks built to run 24hrs a day. The bandsaw will be the same.

i have a 12" northfield jointer - from the 60's - heavy duty - accurate - a joy to use. and they still make parts for it.

Northfield still makes great stuff. Their bandsaws may have been a tad lighter than the Tannewitz or Oliver, but still way heavier than most saws made today. Jeff is the guy to talk to at Northfield. The castings are still made in Eau Claire WI. Northfield will have a history on the saw and good info on its use. The older saws had a round top so they are distinctive from the newer ones ( last thirty years or so.) Look at owwm.com for pictures of various machines. Dave

I don't think you will hear complaints from anyone. I've never seen a new one, but I understand they still make a few a year.

Congrats Dave!
I passed on an older 20"'Northfield last year and really regret it now. At least I didn't pass on the 16" HD jointer from the same sale!
Looking forward to hearing about this saw. Jeff

I've wondered how they stay in business unless there's more demand for their machines than I think.

I'm a weekend warrior. I make sawdust, mostly. I was in the right place at the right time and could not pass it up.

Nice! A tank indeed. That sucker must weight at least a ton! Update the thread as you uncrate it and get it hooked up and running!

Is it NOS or brand new? either way congrats! I miss the 20" & 36" saws I used in school.

Got it in and unloaded. It's got power but still needs to be leveled and dialed in.
I did not get a chance to clean up the re-saw attachments.
I put a coat of table conditioner on the table
