Anyone have a source for exotic ribbon cable ends...... Hard to pay $85 for a cable that only needs a $2 end.

20 wire ribbon cable

Mark,

Check your local electronics parts distributor.
Otherwise, Digykey would have them.

Check this place-------------

Thanks Tony.... That is my local distributor. If they have them they are under a desk in a box with dust on them.. Nothing in the Catalog even close except a generic IDC Connector for ribbon cable.

How about Mouser? I did a quick search on there and saw a few that looked like they would either work or could be modified to work.

Also - if you send them a photo of the cable end, they will search for you and tell you what part number to buy.

Thanks Brain I'll give them a try....... Looking at European websites and getting closer....Found one in China (100 min)...

Ordered a style match from Mouser... will see if it is a good match...

Thanks..

Not sure if this is exactly what you need, but here is where you need to look anyway: digikey has all types of sizes of ths free-hanging rectangular connector.

Matt you are correct.... Just wish I did not have to order 84 of them as a min quantity.

Here you go- buy one of them for $3.84 : http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/assmann-wsw-components/AWH-24G-E202-IDC/AE11146-ND/5051783

and it's pair, in case you want to replace both ends: http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/assmann-wsw-components/AWP-24-7240-T/AE11118-ND/5011309

a note on these- cut the cable cleanly so you start with a fresh end when you pierce the connector onto the cable. And when you squeeze the connector closed use a vise, or something else that will squeeze it nice and square.

I would defiantly remake that with standard 2x10 pin connectors.
