Can anyone tell me what the correct miter gauge is for the 1953 Delta unisaw? Part number?

Thank You

Check the publications over on vintage machinery.

vintagemachinery.org is your best bet for sure. There is a type study for Delta miter gauges here:

I checked the manual for my 1968 Unisaw in case that would be of any help but I see that it's complicated. They list two miter gauge options, 34-884 and 50-864, but don't specify what the differences are or which is the new or old style for 1968.

By all means get an original, just don't use it. That old accu-set miter gauge may have been ok in its day but it pales in comparison to modern miter gauges. I have one I'd move along from 1954 if your interested. I'll also have to find it as it doesn't get used.

A correct miter gauge is one that provides correct cuts. Some of the older ones just don't cut it.
