I'm a sucker for any new shiny object, what can I say other than it is what it is. The Plano Vertical Panel Press caught my eye a couple of weeks ago....I just happened to have enough wall space to hang it, I had to have it. I spent most of yesterday putting it together, mostly because I'm old, can't see, and instructions...What's that.

Here it is on the wall, I didn't have time to make a panel today but that will be Job1 tomorrow. Its first go will be the lid for the new tool box.

More when I know more:

That looks pretty slick. Anxious to see it in action.

Not sure I'd pay $400 for one but slick nevertheless.

I used one of these in the Navy woodshop. They had turned that one horizontal to keep the glue from dripping the face in the vertical mode.

I too bought one of these for a large run of end grain butcher blocks, I used 6 verticals. It sped up the laminating process and kept the glue ups out of my way while I did other tasks. It was worth the money. And set up was a bit fiddly but get it right once and away you go.

Jim Tolpin had an article in an old FWW112 about similar setup, but using trestles and wedges.

I almost built it, but at the end decided that that storage will take too much space. Cauls take up less space and worked well when I had to make a bunch of panels.

Chris,

It is fiddly....I'm doing a couple of test runs before I add glue. The photo is of the first test run.
