There is another string concerning Pig Stickers chisels. As strings sometimes do, it wandered all over the place.
I mentioned that I have made chairs for my offspring and one of the guys ask to see pictures of the chairs.
I did not want to bury these in the other string. Altogether, I have made four other chairs for my children and a friend.

The chair in the yard is one I gave to a Grandson Tyler to rock my two great grandchildren, Harper Rose Holmes and Beckam Holmes.

The other chair is for one of my sons. It is was inspired by the Charles and Henry Greene chairs at the Los Angeles museum. I don't have a picture of it with the seat in it.
The back splats are opposite hand and curved. I spent a lot of time with spoke shaves on them. The mortises were all chopped with bevel edge chisels.

You have great grandchildren??!! You don't look that old in your picture. :)

Now those chairs look especially good for an old codger :D

Excellent, in fact.

Thanks for posting these Lowell. I've always wondered what your chairs looked like, from reading other posts. They look great - it's hard to beat craftsmanship combined with curly maple! They look mighty comfortable. Your family will cherish these for generations!

Best regards,
Fred

They look very good Lowell. I've heard it can be trickey to make them rocking chairs instead of walking chairs. I was always afraid to try and build any.
