What is used to allow wood drawers slide more easily? No slides are being used, just drawer sliding on wood frame. thanks.

Make sure the mating surfaces are flat and smooth, then apply paste wax to them.

I use a candle or canning wax.

There are slick tapes made for the purpose. Some examples

A combination of UHMW tape on one side and paste wax on the other makes for pretty smooth operation.

If you use solid wood and hand plane the drawers and runners to a nice mirror finish, you don't need wax.
With use, there can be some wear with large drawers, so you can apply a strip of hardwood like oak to the bottom runners.

AND - a good fit - with clearance but tight tolerances and parallel. I try to get within the thickness of a formica sample on either side (at the most - that's pushing being twice too much, especially for small drawers) wether it's to a right angle wood slides or to the cabinet sides themselves. These tolerances allow the drawer box to slide out and in without left/right jitters, i.e. no wobble or racking.

Snug fit = smooth pull/push.
