I'd like to learn the basics of case design for drawers. There's a lot out there on drawer box construction. I'm pretty sure I can work through that, but can't seem to find much on the actual design details of building the case for the drawer. I've seen build threads here that talk about runners, kickers, stops, guides, etc., but frankly, I have little idea what it's all about.

I've looked inside dressers and end tables here in the house, but of course the joinery and what can be glued/not glued, the order of assembly, etc, isn't completely obvious to me.

There's a dozen or more books on Amazon. Is there one you could recommend that covers the details? (with lots of pictures :))

Thanks,
Phil

Among other things, check out Derek Cohen's current build on his website. Hopefully he will along with an exact link shortly but search for In the Woodshop

Fine Woodworking put out a great book called "Building Furniture" that does a really good job of explaining things.

Here's a preview of it.
