On my Delta 46-460 lathe, the lock handle on the tailstock spins loose as I use the tailstock with a forstner bit. Is there something to help that stay in place, without locking it in place?

Brian the friction in the spindle groove will tend to rotate the handle when there is higher rotational pressure on the spindle, (does on mine to) some lube in the groove helps some, but I usually just hold my hand over the top of the tailstock to keep the handle from turning :).

Thank you Leo. I lubed the groove and have been taking care of it right now the way you said.

Poor design, mine did the same thing. I lived with it.

There isn't enough metal there in the tailstock casting, otherwise one could place a separate piece before the locking handle screw.
