Does anyone know anything about an SCMI SC-600 bandsaw from 1995. Reason I'm asking is because I'm bidding on one in an upcoming auction. Description says runs great and from the pictures is rust free. What do these things usually run as far as cost, and are they decent bandsaws? Any info would be great! thanks

Made by Centauro, very high quality machines. Watch for missing major parts like the fence. Those are generally impossible to replace. It will be three-phase, of course, but you can DIY a phase inverter for that if you are on single-phase power. More than likely, it will be 230V.

As far as price, I have no idea. What is the price at, now?

Right now its at $675 with less than a day left on it, and yes it has the fence. Yet it will probably shoot up in price on the last few minutes.

I have the Centauro branded version of that saw, and it's a great saw. I paid 600 for mine less than a year ago, but knowing what it is since I have used it, I'd pay double that in a heartbeat if I needed one. If you want it for resawing, get a Lenox Woodmaster CT 1.3 TPI. I'm running mine off a $268 VFD off ebay, and love it.

It went for around $2000 I'm going to wait for a better deal to come my way. Thanks for the input!

Surprised it went that high. I often wonder if the seller has shills intentionally bid to try and drive up the price. You see things go for ridiculous prices and wonder.

Wow, I was very interested in bidding on this saw and slapping on a VFD. What did the 36" tannewitz go for in that auction? Was I a fool to think the '95 3hp 3phase saw was going to sell for sub $1000? Time to sit back and see what the 2014 minimax 24" sells for on monday....

So happy I found another saw and didnt get caught up in that mess. I simply do not understand auctions. I watch stuff sell for $25 sometimes, and the same piece of equipment sell for $2500 a month later. Couldnt help myself, I looked it up and the 24" sold for $2450, which is before 15% auction fee, tax and loading. 36" tannewitz sold for $1500.

Last summer there was a 20" SCM J/P (2250) about 3 hours drive from me but I was moving around that time (moving to the new house) and had lots going on so couldn't go after it. When I saw it sold for under $800 I was super mad. I couldn't believe it.
