There is a 3/8" hole at the top of the jig and a set screw to hold what ever its in this hole tight. The pics have arrows pointing to the hole in question. I've looked on parts lists and the instructions but cannot find out what this hole is used for.....any ideas?

Have you tried an image web search with the model number? My best guess is an additional clamp or support.

Hi Mike
Thanks for the info!...Yes I got this a while ago for a song.....well cared for. I don't use it that much but it sure comes in handy when I need it and is an easy setup

People are getting $200 + shipping for those, in that condition.

I've seen maybe a dozen of these in the wild, lots of pictures on the web, and I've never seen anything in that hole. I thought perhaps an extra handle, but the position doesn't make much sense.

Mine was free, out of the throwaway pile at the end of someone's garage sale. (but with a whole lot more "use patina" than yours-- still works fine though!)

It's worth nearly that much in scrap value. That thing sure is heavy.

Does anyone still use these. I have one that is at least 20 years old and probably has been used less than 10 times. I saw Norm using one and had to have it.:)

I use mine all the time. Haven't yet found a better/faster way to cut tenons.

I bought mine when they were available new, and I don't remember any mention of that hole.

Tenons are cleaner and more precise made with the jig. However, I tend to use a band saw or make them by hand.

If I had a project that had multiple tenons, I probably would use it.

I always thought that hole was for a racing flag . . . .
