I currently have a Delta 22-560 12 1/2" planer. It has a 2 straight knife cutterhead. It comfortably removes 1/16" inch of a 12 inch wide board per pass. I am looking to pick up a used 15" planer on the cheap. Probably a rebuild project, during which I will put in a spiral cutterhead. I looking for something similar to a Grizzly G0453Z and likely install a byrd cutter head. How much material can a system like that comfortably remove per pass? Anyone with a G0453Z, how much removal can it handle per pass?
