English walnut hollow form with holly/tagua finial. 11 1/2" tall, 5" wide.

(Not sure why SMC insists on showing this sideways)
This walnut, while very figured, presented some serious challenges. The tree fell into a salty bog in Oregon, and apparently sat there for decades. As a result, the salt kept emerging during the finishing process, which made getting the lacquer smooth throughout. It probably has 20 coats! The walls are about 1/8th to 3/16th inch thick, which is as thin as I dared go without an articulated arm
system.
