Getting ready for St. Paddy's Day. This is a ash bowl that I took a blow torch to the outside and charred it black. Next the blacked surface was wired brushed to give the surface a leathery textured look. I used black India ink to return the true black color. I finished by dry brushing it with apple green Pearl-Ex mica powder. Two coats of lacquer for a finish. Inside is the natural color of the ash wood.

Nicely done. I always loved the sort of malachite quality of green over black. Reds work well that way too.

Thanks Alan,
the dichomic colors of Pearl-Ex mica powders can be quite interesting when applied over black. This green has a gold shimmer to it when the light hits it correctly.
