Northern Red Cardinal

I just finished carving a life size Northern Red Cardinal, carved from basswood,painted in acrylics,sealed with water based varnish,matte finish. The legs are factory made (flexible),the base is a piece of weeping mulberry tree. I used a wood burner to get some detail of feathers before painting.
Bird carving is not my favorite thing to do, much prefer to carve caricatures.
