I recently made a TV cabinet for a client with some weird angles. No big deal but of course the cove molding I put under the front lip had to have compound miter cuts. Used my handy chart and after a few practice cuts got that made and installed. Now is it true that the quarter round that I plan for the base, following the same angles will have to have compound cuts? Part of my head says yes because it's the same as the cove but upside down. The other part of my head just want to bisect the angle and cut the quarter round accordingly. Which part of my head is crazy?

The back of the quarter round is square and will only require a miter cut to the angle of the front to side.

+1 what Dan said. You could have cut the cove this way, too, if you had placed it in the saw in a "standing up" position
