My plane is in very good shape, and would cut better if I had a good tapered iron in it. It is made for a single iron, with neither the body nor wedge having an recesses for a cap iron screwhead or thread boss.

I outfitted it with a new straight blade, a Stanley, but it is not tapered.

Where might I find what I need? Blade width is 2-3/8". I can buy a new one from Lee Valley, but was hoping for a vintage piece.

You missed the goldmine that Lasse Hilbrandt put up for sale. He sold them all. I always search eBay for old stuff, but my opinion is the Veritas tapered blades are a great option.

I can still get some in the 45/46 mm range but they are all slottet for cap iron

Maybe the plane iron shop on ebay in the uk? They have a lot of single irons.

I have a new Hock iron, 2 3/8" wide, that I don't use. It's not tapered and it comes with a chip breaker. I bought it by mistake - it wouldn't fit my plane and I never sent it back.

If interested, PM me.

I also have a vintage iron but it's 2 1/2".

Found one on eBay. Bought both iron and cap, but only need iron. It's British, tapered, and pretty clean. Marked F. G. Pearson, branded "Acute."

It's for that big one across the rear. 27" long x 3" wide x 2-3/8" high.
