In keeping with the sewing theme, I also make these as gifts and to sell.
The kits are from Woodcraft, and basically any wood can be used to make something really neat. I rarely put on the pocket clip.

The single ripper pics is the one I made for my wife. It's Lacewood, and finished with just beeswax. It has a nonSlip quality, and resists slipping and twisting when ripping out those stitches.

I think that those are actually imported by Penn State Industries. Rockler is not generally an importer but buys their kits from the companies that do import them

We make ours from Ditz seam rippers. We drill in one end and then mount them using a dead-center to drive. We cut the end cap off and glue that into the hole (after turning)

seam rippers look good to me not that have plans to take up sewing have enough trouble learning to turn
