I'm referring to those little dark dots on the front. They're very obvious in your first pic, though not very clear. On the front of the bottom two drawers. (And oddly, only on the bottom two.)

Is that just defects in the wood? I figured maybe they were similar to the dark pins (dowels?) on the top of the sides.

Hi Allan

The drawer fronts so far are not finished, and they do have some fissures from resin dropping out. Overall it is mild, but I tend to leave this in. Once the drawers are all in, they need to be aligned - high and low spots removed so that they are coplanar. The drawer fronts have a slight bow and the hand shaping creates some irregularities. This process involves sanding in a group, then scraping individually. By that stage, these marks may be gone.
