Harbor Freight used to sell a universal mobile base like the Delta #50-345 base. The big difference is that the HarborFreight base cost $24.95 compared to about $50 for the Delta. They don't seem to have them anymore. Does anyone know of another source?

Kevin,

I believe this one comes closest, but shipping can be a deal breaker. Maybe you can find out if they have a traveling sales display coming your way any time soon and save the shipping. I've heard this is comparable to the HF unit. I'm not sure what size tool stand this handles or if it is adjustable, but I have heard that it is a decent unit on these forums.

I bought a Delta and a couple Harbor Freight units. I'm all set but I have a friend looking for some bases like mine. I saw the one from Homier but read messages from others that said it is not adjustable like the Delta and was too small for many of their tools. I know he doesn't want to have to fuss with cutting up the base to get it to work.

Thanks

I find that a simple home made mobile base is a lot cheaper ($5-$10), stronger (HF) and fits better that the store bought ones, or at least the ones I have seen. Inparticular, the 3 wheel ones for HTC.

I use the 200 lbs, locking casters, $1.02 from CSH (Custom Service Hardware, 800-882-0009, www.cshardware.com (http://www.cshardware.com)), 4 for a smaller unit, more for a larger unit. Between the weight of the unit and the locking casters. I very rarely have problems with the unit moving.

The last HF ones I found were at a retail store - long after they had disappeared from the web/catalog. Price also was $14.99. Might want to ask a store manager if any are squirreled away.

As someone said, the Homier is not adjustable.

IIRC, Rockler sells a unit in between the Delta and HF in price. The Woodcraft variety (can mount either to a sheet of plywood or directly to cabinet corners) is a pretty good deal when on sale. These have two lever-lift points and are better for beefier machines.

My local Lowes has the delta units. At least I saved on shipping.

Phil,

Depending on which catalog you have, page 32 or 33, Casters, 200 Pound Capacity, 57.152B.08, Plate Stem & Brake, Black, $1.08.

If going through their web site, www.cshardware.com (http://www.cshardware.com/), top left hand side of page, "Click Here to view our catalog by section", "furniture hardware", top of page.

I've used good rubber wheels, 3"-4", industrial quality, etc., etc., but these ones from CSH really work well (at least for me).
