I am considering building a sled that uses some 1/4 aluminum angle stock. Anyone know of a source from any chain store that sells this stuff?

Thanks,
Corey

Corey,
I know the borgs carry 1/8" so I'd guess they also carry 1/4".

Really! Didn't realize the Borg would have it. Great and thanks!
Thanks,
Corey
P.S. what area would that be in?

The small stock of steel and aluminum is usually around the hardware section, along with the thresholds, chain and rope in Home Depot. It can be pricey, but it is convenient. If you are buying larger amounts, it sometimes pays to shop around, but for 3 - 4 feet of the stuff, the convenience factor usually wins for me!

For the size stuff you're talking about, if you can't find it at HD, try a decent-sized hobby store: they typically stock brass and aluminum tubing and extrusions.

Check out a metal supply store. I bought the 3/16 angle aluminum for my sled at a local metal supply store. The heavier weight items like 3/16 + wont be at the borgs...

I've also found 1/8" at HD. Don't know for sure about 1/4". I checked a place I've used for getting brass, and they have a pretty good aluminum angle selection. Their prices are likely to be better than the Borg, but do a price compare to be sure.

You can get it from McmAster-Carr as well - a bit pricy, but available.

Check a materials supply place within your area. They usually supply welding shops and the like.
