332390This was found on a palett. I know it's spalted, but spalted what? What do you know about this wood?

Why that is the all too common Palletwood! :D No clue...few more pics might help. The spalting can throw one's eye as it can be hard enough to web identify wood without such features.

332442332443 I also think it's Beech. I think when cleaned up, sanded, finished, it's beautiful wood. So what if it came from a pallet. I had to take these pics using my iPhone 6+ on my laptop screen. For some reason it's very difficult to upload pics on this forum. I hope the quality is decent enough to identify the wood. Has anyone worked with this wood for a project/

I am working with a lot of beech. American beech. I had a tree harvested from my yard a few years back and it is now dry enough to use.
I am so puzzled why people don't use this wood commercially in the north east. I am growing to love it.
As far as pallet wood goes, I went through a phase of loving the gem boards you'd occasionally find. The problem is they are often too thin, too naily, or not in adequate abundance to do anything with.
