Hi everyone I have been learning alot from all of you on laser engraving and
this is my first post. I have a 35 watt epilog mini and have a friend that wants
his wedding cake knife lasered. It is silver coated I have a bottle of cerdic for stainless wondering if that is the way to go or if it is even possible.
Thank you all for the information on laser engraving.

Ron,

If the knife truly is silver plated, you're probably out of luck. Silver is an excellent conductor and will not engrave. You could give it a try to make sure. If it's plated the marking will wipe right off. Bruce

I engrave knife blades for a gun and knife shop in my hometown frequently. I use Cermark and it works fine. Most of these knives are for looks only and not used, but a cake knife for a wedding is only used once so you could try that.
