ok guys I am stuck I have a delta 28-278 band saw with a 3/4 motor in the manual it says that your can convert to 240 so I used 10/3 wire and did it on the same as the table saw and it worked the switch did here is pictures of the switch and the motor wiring but when I turned it on I notice smoke from the motor so I shut it off and unplugged it right away. it was light smoke not a big smoke it was louder so I don't understand what I did wrong. I think the switch is correct.

Why are you trying to convert to 240 volt operation? There really isn't any advantage of doing so, it won't give you any more power to your saw.

If your saw seems to not have enough power, check the drive belt. If it is loose the saw won't want to cut. Also check your blade guides, if they are too tight on the blade they act as brakes. I have the same saw and I can resaw 5-1/2" soft maple with no problem.

Did you take pictures before changing it? Make drawings?
Don't be surprised if it doesn't run. Any smoke in a motor can be bad.

I got it back up and running yesterday at some point I am going to put a bigger motor on it but for now. i tightened the belt up a little and that helps.
