Got them today. The gouge is awesome. Much better than the Mastercut I have. The skew is gonna needs lots of practice, it wants to run a lot.

I don't like the edge on the skew, currently in the process of putting a convex edge on it.

With my new four in one wheel I wanted to try flat grinding a skew. I didn't like it either. I think one reason is that we are using a far sharper angle when we measure the hollow ground bevel at the two edges for the same degree setting as a flat ground skew. I think I could have worked with the flat ground skew but I needed to experiment with grind angles and change my ways of using the tool a little bit. Easier to just go back to a hollow grind for me. If I had issues with chipping I would work more with the flat grind though.

Very nice, I just received a fluteless gouge from Thompson last night. I love my V10 bowl gouge I have had for a while from him, so of course I am hooked.

I ordered one of Alan's 1 3/8" Skews last night from his AlanLacer site.

I have both of those and yes, they are excellent. I'm working my way closer to a Lacer grind on the skew with each sharpening. I suppose the shape is all what you are used to, but the steel is fantastic. Enjoy.
