I've turned quite a bit of Red Cedar but when I turned this piece I was pleasantly surprised.
I've never seen figure like this in cedar.
C & C always welcome.

That's one thing about doing this that makes this hobby so exciting, never know what your going to uncover. Sometimes it's a ant farm, sometimes a bunch of knots or just a plain bland looking piece of nothing. Then you get one like this and ShaBam, you hit the jackpot. Nice find Bruce.

A really superb and unique piece of cedar and the shape/finish is great.

Very nice! I really like it! That's a really nice piece of wood and the shape and rim treatment show it off really well.

As my dear wife says, usually when we discuss how we found each other, " Even a blind hog finds an acorn now and again."

Yeah, I love working with red cedar. That's a beauty, what is the black rim?

Bruce,
The form, wood and finish are great. Cedar I have turned is usually is not that stunning. I also like the rim treatment too. Well done.

Black crushed stone.
It got a bit dicey as there was enough moisture in the wood that it moved a bit after cutting the groove for the inlay.
Actually the piece ended up being rather oval.
Just dumb luck.
