Back in the 1950s & 60s my family would vacation in Yosemite. Back then there would be a nightly show of embers being pushed over a ledge as the climax of a story one of the rangers would tell. They ended doing this many years ago. Part of the legend is based on the "fire fall" of Horseshoe falls.

When the weather is right and during just two weeks in February the sun hits the falls at just the right angle...

I was there in 1963 and remember well the "Let the fire fall" shout that would carry up the mountain.

That was a pretty cool time at Yosemite for climbing from what I've seen. There was a great documentary about it on th Discovery channel called Valley Uptising.

I too remember many Yosemite fire falls...spectacular.
