Valentine's Day bowl for my sweetie

I got up early Sunday morning and grabbed a roughed out blank that looked promising to make a bowl for my wife. I thought it was meaningful to actually make it on Valentine's Day. This is from a red maple tree that fell over in the woods behind my house. This tree has saved me a ton of money in the 18 months I've been turning. 90% of my turning and learning has been on free red maple. This one is 9.5" in diameter, and 3.5" tall. Sanded to 1000 and Danish Oil finish.331719331720331721

Beautifully executed, and such a great gift.

I made my wife and 2 kids some rolling hearts of mahogany for Valentine's Day. They were going to be bandsaw boxes, but I ran out of time.

Very nice looking bowl with great looking figure in the wood. It is on thing to get a tree off your property but with this kind of figure is amazing.
