Hi Guys

I just wandered if anyone can point me towards a past post or some good advice.

I am currently trying laser engrave a photo onto anodised aluminium.

I am getting some pretty good results but nothing like the quality I have seen online

I find that a lot of info online contradicts itself, even the trotec advice seems to suggest that not much digital editing is required - http://www.troteclaser.com/en-US-AU/About-Trotec/News/Pages/Laser-Photo-Engraving.aspx

whereas other sources suggest that you need to do a lot of resampling.

If anyone has got some general rules that i should stick to that would be a great starting point for me, dpi, power, order dithered, stucki etc..etc..

Thanks in advance

Pat

You might post the photo you're having trouble with. It's possible that the photo is not good for engraving or needs editing before engraving. Power settings are best determined by your own experimentation. Even machines with the same designated power vary. Different length lenses will vary results as well. I think Trotec does a good job of explaining dpi in the article you posted.
