Although I am supposedly no longer in business people still bring me chairs to cane, rush, etc. I am presently caning eight side chairs and one is a problem. Someone cut a channel and changed the cane to prewoven in the past. Additionally the chair was in a fire or something else happened to destroy the integrity of the wood in the seat. I need to make a new seat but my tools are long gone in the auction last year. Anyone in the Austin - Spicewood area able to make the seat frame? I just need the frame mortised and tenoned and assembled. I will do the shaping and drilling. The basic frame is made from full inch thick walnut and the side and front rails are 2 3/8" wide. The rear rail is just a little wider. The shape is trapazoidal. I can send a pic by email.
