Hey Mates, Can anyone recommend a good "NON TIP" moisture meter, that won't require taking out a second mortgage to pay for,:o (I rent anyway) Ha! Have checked out many reviews, and am still confused! Around the $40.00 range would be great! Will be used for checking out .020 to .063 veneer laminates. Thanx. Gb bg

Where do you live George? Near Columbus Ohio, you can use mine.... No wait, my meter has pins.

You won't find a reliable, pinless meter for under $200, much less $40. What you can do is get an inexpensive hygrometer (<$20). It will tell you the relative humidity where your veneer is kept. The RH will tell you the EMC. As thin as the veneer is, I'm sure it responds rather quickly to RH changes.

I agree with Cody. I picked up several $40-60 moisture meters at the big box stores hoping to use one for a spare but when compared to my GE ($1500), none were even close and gave readings all over the place. Extech makes very good and reasonable meters but not for $40.

If that doesn't work out, look at the new Grizzly catalog. They have a namebrand meter on sale.

Go to Amazon and search for a pinless moisture meter. There's a General brand meter that's around $50.
