I was able to get my toolrest banjo brazed back together by a local ornamental iron guy. He did a good job on the repair.
To test it, I mounted the chery blank I was turning when I broke it, and finished turning the bowl to just under 1/4" thickness. I am very pleased with the repair and am happy to be able to turn again.
It just goes to show, you have to pay total attention to what you are doing. A second of lapse can be disasterous. Thankfully, there was no physical damage to anything except the toolrest.
