I just finished making some drawer boxes out of Baltic birch plywood. There were some burns on the inside of the pins and the bit seemed dull. When I took the bit out of the router, it looked rather beat up and discolored. It is a Freud 1/2" 14 degree bit, so I expected it to last for years - and it did last through about 20 drawers.

Am I expecting too much life out of this bit when used on plywood?

I have heard that the bit that come with the PC dovetail jig are not the best quality. I have that jig and made a few drawers but out of BB. I upgraded my bit to a Whiteside before I started my current project because of what I heard and I wanted a good quality cut for this project without needing to be held up while I got a replacement.

Just my $.02

I think you are asking too much, especially cutting through resorcinol.
Want cutter mileage? Then get the next smallest cutter (probably 14° ).
Take what you can with this cutter and Router A.
Then do the finish cuts with Router B and a new cutter of the correct size.
You'll triple the life of the cutter in Router B and your results will be a lot cleaner.
