I'm in the process of changing the belt on my Jet 14 42 Lathe and would prefer to get something from a local Auto Parts place, what I need is a Gates Equivalent Number for a replacement belt .... anyone know what I should ask for?

My original is really stretched apparently, I just brought home a belt that was ever so slightly smaller than the original and it's way to long.

Thanks,
Tim

Does your old belt not have an ID number to match?

Hi Bill ... the original belt is Bando RPF 2250 .... that has not helped the fine folks at 4 separate auto parts stores this morning.

Belt is 25 inches. I'd measure the width and depth of the belt and the auto parts store should match it up.

Tim, I looked on the Bando site to check the specs then went to the Gates site and placed the number in their cross reference. This yielded the Gates belt number 8017250. Hope that helps.

Thanks Larry, that should do the trick.

This is incredibly easy: take the old belt to NAPA or any other auto parts store and they'll pull a matching one off the shelf for a third of what Jet will charge.
