I am going to buy a pocket hole jig and want to know if you have to use glue also with the screws?

I always use glue on the wood joints before intalling the pocket hole screws. I hope this helps.

The glue is not nessesary but optional. If you are making rails and styles, I for one never believed glue works very well in end grain to side grain applications anyway.

For a good solid joint, you should use glue, but it will work without it. Think of the screws as clamps that allow you to keep moving with assembly of a project without the mess of pipe clamps etc. in your way.

I use glue. Mainly as a gap filler. It does strengthen the joint. Try knocking one apart after it has set up for a day.
It will usually break the long grain.
