Here is number 3. It is made from box elder burl that I got at the landfill a few years ago, so it was totally dry. I have never turned such a crumbly piece of wood. I used more CA glue on this one than I have ever used before. The burl was so amazing on this one that I left it square. It is 7.25" square by 2.75" high. Dyed green, and gold leaf in the center. Finished with lacquer. Critique requested.

Very nice. Did you dye it before using the CA ?

I like it! A real eye catcher for sure.

The dye was put on after the cutting was complete. It would have been nice if I could have stabilized and deep dyed the wood before starting, but I don't have the equipment. The CA was just to reduce the crumbling while I got the basic shape, then it was lots of shear scraping, and huge amounts of work with the 40, 60, and 80 grit gouges. I hate sanding, and wish there was a better way, but for this one....
