I just picked up a Japanese bandsaw that will take up to a 2" blade. It is quite heavy duty. Any one familiar with them?

The second pics are rotated. Not sure why.

Never heard of the brand. Also I don't want to sound like a jerk, but there is no way that saw could properly tension or run a 2 inch blade. The resaw height looks to be about 6 inches, since it looks like most 12-14" bandsaws. I hope it works well for you.

Maybe it runs the same blades that the little Hitachi resaw bandsaw uses. http://www.amazon.com/Hitachi-CB75F-Woodworking-115-Volt-1-Phase/dp/B0000223KH/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8

Here it is next to a Jet 18 bs. I took the table, motor and base off. It still took two guys to move it. 16 inch cast iron wheels, two belt pulleys. Super smooth bearings. 12" resaw height and cast iron fence. Unique tension configuration. Can definately handle a 2" blade. Looks 1950s to early 1960s

I've had good luck with blades from this company. I'd probably start with a 1" blade for resawing, but would need to study the guides closely first. http://www.bandsawbladesdirect.com/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=bandsaw%20blades%20direct&utm_campaign=Band_Saw_Blades&gclid=CjwKEAiAw4e1BRDfi7vghaWU9jESJACzo9juosqZpIRR kwUzMINE7Ot8w4ZE9UJiG_EJDHlON4gFIhoCRTfw_wcB

Don't try to get the absolutely longest blade it will take, but one in the middle of its range.

It should work better than the 18"jet. We also have two 14" bandsaws in the shop. Thank you for your valuable information about my saw.

It came with some 1" blades. I think some 1-1.5 blades would be good. Someone put a 1.5 blade in the Jet 18 at the shop and it just couldn't handle it. The Jet can't handle much.

While it is usable as is. I'm going to go through it and do a light restoration.

What'd you pay for it? Aside from finding parts, I love unique vintage stuff... The Hitachi resaw has a universal motor as I recall - tell us about the motor on yours? HP, noise, belt/direct? No matter - great score.

It has a big GE motor. Twin belt drive and is super quiet. I can't read the HP rating but it is 220v. I think it is 2-4 hp.

Edit: went to motor shop. It is a revulsion induction motor rated at 1hp. Pre 1964. It goes back together tomorrow.

It uses 112" blades. Same as the Hitachi. It's back together and I hope to pick up some blades Monday.
