Edit Post Not There

I have a post that I wanted to add some additional photos to. I don't see any edit button. When I replied to a question I noticed on the reply at the bottom there was an edit button, but now its gone. Am I missing something or are they not editable after a certain amount of time.

OK, at least I know I am not crazy. I was thinking I see it then I don't. Thanks for the clarification.
