Previously, I had made a Lacewood necklace cabinet posted here, and had some extra wood from the board. So I made this Lacewood keepsake box. It is 13" x 8" x 5". The keys are Holly, both for accent and to reinforce the miter joints on 1/4" thick stock. The box has 3/4" legs that are recessed, so the box appears to float. I did a test on several finishes and settled on General Finishes Polyacrylic; oil-based finishes turned the wood a dull brown. Thanks for any comments, pro or con.

I like that it "floats" and it will be easy to pick up because of that. Nice clean box with super wood.

Excellent work. I'm partial to lacewood though I usually combine it with another wood, like cherry, to suit my taste.

Very nice. Where did you purchase the latches from?
