I may be a little late with this, but a search didn't come up with anything.
I just got around to reading my Sept. '15 issue of Family Handyman magazine. It had an article about Roy Doty passing away. Roy was an illustrator and cartoonist who started his career in 1941, right after Pearl Harbor, and worked until he passed at 93.
Many of us grew up on his 'Wordless Workshop' illustrations which ran in Popular Science from 1954 to 1990. It was a cartoon showing a household problem, solved by simple solutions, often woodworking ideas. I am 73, and I grew up seeing his work as far back as I can remember.
Pop Science dropped him in 1990, and he was picked up immediately by Family Handyman without even missing a month. He worked for them until 2015, with an idea each month.
He career lasted longer than I have been alive, and I will sure miss him.
