Hello All...

Quick pricing question... I have a customer that needs approx. (45) of a 1" x 2.5" perpetual plate engraved with different info on each. What would a reasonable price to charge per piece be on something like this?

Each piece will cost me approx. 0.40 to buy.

Thanks
Wayne

Hi Wayne;
Assuming you are talking laser and not engraving machine, the setup will take longer than the actual work. Overall, I would price at about $3 per tag, unless its for a relative and then I would charge $5.
Best Regards,

If I'm providing the plate, I get $9 each for perp plates.

Thanks George and Brian, I appreciate your input. I was thinking of the $5.00 range but wanted to make sure I wasn't too far off.

On products like this I'd suggest price based upon your time, not the cost of the object, and you also need to factor in design time since the engraving is changing + a few mistakes.

For example: If a piece of wood costs $5 but you spend and hour engraving and cutting it, should you only charge $10 or should you charge $40? You have to decide how much your time and consequentially your laser time is worth.

We'd charge somewhere between $5-8. The range is dependent on how the information is provided, how many design variations, and material. We have a software advantage. Gravostyle absolutely smokes Corel for a job like this.

I would be between $4 and $6. If they give you the info in a Word or Excel document you can automate it in Corel using one of several macros or print merge.

I do plaque plates for a government program. I charge $6.50 per plate with a 10% discount after 100 plates. I kinda take a hit with the discount but it keeps them coming back for more.
