Here is some mahogany that was given to me by a new neighbor that just retired from the navy and has been carrying it around since getting it from the Philippines where is was stationed.

It is 6" x 3" x 3/16" thick and is finished by using the beall buffing system. I have enough to make maybe 4 more this size. :D

Thanks for looking :)

That wood has a lot of character and you certainly turned a nicely shaped bowl from it. I like the color. Did you have trouble with any of the Beall compounds accumulating in the open pores?

Very nice! :)

Well done, Dick and beautiful finish on it, as well. One word of caution, though: It won't hold soup!:D (Well, at least not all of it, anyhow!:) ) Nice job!:)

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. This was a fun piece of wood to turn.

Ya Jim, this is from the half of a log I posted before. I should get 5 bowls out of it. :D

Bob, glad ya come over. This is a great place to visit and a bunch of nice people to visit with. ;)

I've always been afraid to use white diamond on mahogany, but the tripoli was no problem.

Did you have trouble with any of the Beall compounds accumulating in the open pores?

You know what they say. If it won't hold soup, it's art. Beautiful bowl.
